This two day course introduces students to SUSE Enterprise Storage 3 and provides them with the skills to deploy, access, administer and monitor a basic storage cluster.

In this course, attendees will learn the following:

  • Understand SES 3 components and architecture
  • Install a basic SES 3 Ceph cluster using the ceph-deploy utility
  • Understand and use RADOS, OSDs, Monitors and Ceph data placement
  • Access and use block and object storage using rbd, iSCSI and Ceph Object Gateway
  • Using Erasure Coding
  • Monitoring the Ceph cluster

Course Prerequisites

Attendees should have Linux System Administration skills equivalent to SUSE SCA Enterprise Linux 12. Familiarity with other storage solutions and distributed filesystems is helpful but not essential.
